How to add a puppy schedule to Apple Calendar
Short answer: build the day below, tap Add this day to your calendar (.ics), then choose Add All. Every potty trip, meal and the night alarm become calendar events that repeat for a week, and the trips outside come with an alert.
Step by step
- Set your wake-up time and your puppy's age below. The day fills in straight away.
- Tap Add this day to your calendar (.ics) under the table.
- iPhone (Safari): the file opens in a Calendar preview; tap Add All and pick a calendar. Mac: open the downloaded file and pick a calendar. Google Calendar: on a computer, Settings → Import & export → Import.
- After a week, come back and rebuild it. A puppy's day changes fast, which is why the events stop repeating after seven days.
Your dog's own two numbers
Everything above runs on averages. The two figures that actually decide your week are how long your puppy takes after waking and after eating — and those are facts about one dog, not about puppies. If you have watched closely enough to know them, put them in and the whole day above rebuilds around them.
Blank means "not yet", which is the honest answer in week one. Finding these two numbers takes a couple of weeks of watching what actually follows every nap and every meal — and noticing it at 3am, on the fourth night, is exactly when nobody is watching. That watching is the whole job the app does.
Why a week, not forever
An 8-week-old needs a trip roughly every hour, and a 16-week-old can go about twice as long. A calendar that repeats an 8-week schedule for months would be wrong within a fortnight, so the export deliberately runs out after seven days.
